Many of you have asked when and where you can learn about wine and obtain your Level 1 wine sommelier certification or learn about wine as serious enthusiast in a professional setting.

The International Wine and Spirits Guild Level 1 Wine Seminar will be taught by Austin based Executive Sommelier and Sr. Wine Instructor, Daniel Kelada at Solaro Urban Winery Houston, July 27 through July 29, 2015 from 6-10pm each evening.

Wine industry applicants, hospitality professionals and serious enthusiasts alike should consider this course an essential foundation for future advancement and certification. Those living the wine life-style will have the opportunity to obtain valuable wine knowledge for entertaining, business and personal satisfaction. The Level 1 Wine Seminar is $495.00, which includes materials, wine and instruction.  All Guild courses are curriculum based, making them approachable, professional and thorough.  This is a 12 hour course composed of lectures and tastings on terms and concepts, including wine making, regional lectures on France, Italy and the United States. History and food and wine pairing is an element within each regional lecture. A major focus of the course is professional, descriptive and comparative wine evaluation technique–how to taste and evaluate wines as a professional. Certification exams are taken online after the course and is applicable to trade professionals looking to build a resume and advance in their current and future wine related roles. Certification exams can also be taken for a non-professional certification for those serious enthusiasts.
