Joint regional tastings of the world’s best wines were once only conducted in Europe and later California and the Southern Hemisphere. However, at Solaro Estate Winery in the Texas Hill Country and Solaro Urban Winery in Houston, examples of the finest limited production Northern Italian
wines were tasted alongside Solaro’s 100% Texas wines at the Solaro Wine Release Event this month. Distinguished tasting event guests, including a representative of the Texas Department of Agriculture, were treated to a diverse portfolio of wines including the featured wines TX Estate Miscela (Barbera and Montepulciano estate blend) and IT Estate DOC Barbona (Barbera and Bonarda estate blend). When asked about the event, Solaro Sommelier presenter Daniel Dillon responded, “Solaro’s maxim ‘great wines have no borders’ was certainly true tonight.” At this year’s event, wine aficionados with trained palates confirmed what International Tastings have demonstrated since 2010: Solaro Texas has joined the elite
group of wineries recognized as producing wines among the best in the world. Since the 2009 vintage, Solaro wines have received an incredible 68 International wine awards, including 12 wins for Best of Class, Double Gold and Gold.
